1. Documentation required. In order for this application to be considered complete, supporting documentation must be uploaded by May 12, 2023. Please review this list of required documentation, including transcripts, resume or description of experience, personal narrative, Mursion reflection, and any evidence you would like WEA to consider towards meeting program completion requirements. You will receive the link for the document upload portal once you have submitted this application form. 
 

2. Mursion reflection. As part of your application, you will complete a virtual simulated teaching experience via Mursion. Include “Schedule Mursion Session” in your subject line, and your name and email address in the body of the email. To schedule your Mursion session, send an email to admissions@washingtonea.org. You must schedule your Mursion session PRIOR to April 28. 
 

3. Demographic information. You have the opportunity to provide your race and ethnicity information by responding to the questions at this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DLGFV8M. Please respond to these questions prior to the admissions application deadline of Friday, May 12. Your application will not be considered complete without these.
 

4. Fingerprint background check: If you do not hold a valid Washington state educator certificate, fingerprinting and a pre-residency clearance is required prior to field experience in schools. Admitted candidates must complete fingerprinting prior to the program start date of June 26, 2023. A character and fitness questionnaire is part of this pre-residency clearance. Field experience will begin with this summer’s program. Find information on fingerprinting procedures. WEA will provide financial support for the costs of fingerprinting. 
 

5. Program admission and completion requirements. Please review the WEA teacher residency program admission and completion requirements, if you have questions, please email admissions@washingtonea.org. 
 

6. Availability. If invited, I am available for an interview the week of May 22-27. These interviews would be in-person in Federal Way, Mukilteo, or Walla Walla. Interviews may be during the day, evening, or Saturday. 

Carefully review this WEA Teacher Residency program calendar. Note in-person and online dates, course withdrawal dates, and other items noted. Attendance is required for program completion. Lodging and transportation for in person coursework is provided for candidates living at a distance. Ensure your availability for the duration of the program. 

7. Content knowledge assessment: Admitted candidates must take a content knowledge assessment prior to August 14, 2023. Passing a content knowledge exam is required prior to certification.

The Special Education WEST-E 070 is the content knowledge assessment for the special education endorsement. You may take this assessment at a testing center, or at home through online proctoring. You must take this assessment at a time that does not conflict with WEA program courses or field experience. 
 
WEA will provide financial support for the assessment fees. To receive reimbursement, please register and pay for the Special Education WEST-E 070, keep your receipt, and request a voucher and voucher submission instructions from admissions@washingtonea.org.

8. Candidate agreement: Please review this WEA Teacher Residency candidate agreement. You will be required to sign it upon admission to the WEA teacher residency program.

Basic skills assessment: Taking a basic skills assessment is required for program admission, and must be taken prior to the application deadline on May 12, 2023.  Many candidates will have previously taken the SAT or ACT, and these scores can be submitted.

There is no minimum required passing score.  The results of this assessment will be used by the WEA teacher residency program to design candidate supports.

Basic skills exams approved for Washington teacher preparation program admission:

-SAT: Register for the SAT. Request a SAT score report.

-ACT: Register for the ACT. Request an ACT score report.

-WEST-B: Register for the WEST-B. Request a WEST-B score report.

-Washington state approved Basic skills exams from other states 

There is no expiration date for these exams-past exam scores may be submitted.

WEA will provide reimbursement for basic skills exam fees.  To receive reimbursement, if you have not previously taken the SAT or ACT, please register for the WEST-B, keep your receipt, and request a voucher and voucher submission instructions from admissions@washingtonea.org.

It is your responsibility to ensure that a score report from one of these exams is sent to WEA Teacher Residency Program  Your score report needs to include results in reading, writing, and math.

Certification: There is no requirement to hold any type of educator certificate for admission to this program.  However, if you do currently hold a certificate, please provide that information.
